Spring on Over to Windrush Alpacas!

Spring is just around the corner, and our alpacas are ready for the warmer temps and grass that will begin to sprout up in the next few weeks. We bet you are too! Come outside and spend some time with the alpacas!

Join us for our next Open Farm Day on Saturday, March 10, 2018 ,  to learn about alpacas, see their full winter coats (shearing will take place in April and May) and take a tour of our farm. Visit us anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Our Farm Store will be open for you to enjoy refreshments and browse the alpaca products we have for sale. Who wouldn’t like a new pair of soft, alpaca socks or a bright new scarf for spring?

On an Open Farm Day tour, you will get to personally meet our owners and many of our alpacas. You will learn a bit about each one. (They all have different personalities, you know!) We will explain how we care for them and how their soft fleece is turned into the beautiful yarns, garments and toys that are sold in our Farm Store.

After spending time with our friendly animals, you might even Adopt-a-Paca while you are there! No need to take it home, we’ll care for it. You can visit on Open Farm Day or by appointment. We’ll tell you all about our program when you visit!

Bring your family, your friends, your co-workers and anyone who needs to get outside in the sunshine and join us for this informative and fun day! And don’t forget your camera! Our alpacas love to take selfies with you!

Beat the Post-Holiday Blues with a Visit Windrush Alpacas

After a busy holiday season, some of us feel a letdown in January. We’ve got the cure! Visit with our alpacas at Open Farm Day, Saturday, January 13, 10 am to 3 pm.

When you visit with the alpacas, you can’t help but smile. Their gentle demeanor, soft fleece and eagerness to eat grain from your hand will change your mood instantly. Take a tour of the farm to learn why we chose to raise alpacas, how we care for them, and what we do with their fleece in the spring. Our alpacas each have a name and very different personalities. A visit to the farm is a unique experience.

While here, stop in our Farm Store. We sell toasty, warm alpaca products. Warmer than wool and softer than cashmere, we have luxuriously soft alpaca scarves, gloves, mittens, and hats… and everyone’s favorite, socks and slippers.

Admission is free, and refreshments will be served at the Farm Store. If it’s a little too cold, we’ll bring one of the alpacas inside too for you to visit with and feed.

Pumpkins may take the stage in October, but at Windrush Alpacas we have Cinnamon, Espresso and Biscotti to get you thinking of all things autumn. They are just three of our friendly herd of alpacas waiting for you to visit with them on Open Farm Day!

Spend time with all our alpacas at Open Farm Day, Saturday, October 14, 2017. The alpacas love your attention! We’ll give you a tour of the farm, answer your questions about raising alpacas, and let you get close and personal with some of the herd.

A visit to Windrush Alpaca is not complete without stopping in at our Farm Store. It’s time to start stocking up on super warm alpaca socks and slippers, hats and gloves, scarves and shawls. We even have cozy pet beds for your dogs and toys for your cats! Make sure you stop by for refreshments too!

Do you wish you had an alpaca of your own? You can have a very special alpaca to visit whenever the farm is open if you become an Adopt-A-Paca© member. Looking for a unique way to tell mom you love her? Spend time with her at Windrush Alpacas Open Farm Day, Saturday, May 13 between 10 am and 3 pm! Tell mom you want to see her smile! Alpacas always make people smile!

At the farm, you and mom will get to personally meet the owners and learn about the daily routine of raising these gentle, soft-fleeced animals. You will even have a chance to feed the alpacas, and if they are up to it, feel their fleece! Some may be newly shorn, others may still have their winter coats!

Bring mom into our Farm Store where we are sure you will find a ‘little something’ to brighten her day, or maybe a soon-to-be graduate, or a June bride and groom. Alpaca yarns are hypo-allergenic, as soft as cashmere and incredibly warm. You can never go wrong when you give a gift made from alpaca yarns.

Bunnies may be the talk of the season, but alpacas – well –  they are in season all year long! Take a break from the ordinary and visit with our lovable herd. Their fleece is long and fluffy now, but not for long. See the alpacas before we shear their winter coats!

Come on out to Open Farm Day, Saturday, April 8 between 10 am and 3 pm.

While you are here, you will get to personally meet our owners, hear about the daily routine of raising these beautiful animals and learn the names of our soft-fleeced friends. They are safe to be around and can be very personable! 

Our Farm Store will be open for you to enjoy refreshments and browse the alpaca products we have for sale. Perhaps you’ll find a special pair of socks or a hat to place in someone’s Easter basket.

We all love the first signs of spring! Our alpacas do too! Just like humans, alpacas love the warmth of the sun and first signs of green grass. We always see an extra ‘spring’ in their step as they graze about the farm. Come celebrate Spring with our herd at Open Farm Day, Saturday, March 11 between 10 am and 3 pm.

While you are at the farm, we will give you a tour, tell you about raising alpacas and their lovable habits. We’ll even introduce you up close and personal to a couple of our fleece-y, friendly four-legged friends.
